Freshman Raphael Egbuchilem finished the men’s 400 meter quarterfinals in seventh place overall. His time of 45.79 set a new UNC record and earned a spot in the semifinals.

The rookie competes in the quarterfinals at 7:50 p.m. Saturday. The top three from each heat, plus the three other fastest times, advance to the semifinals at the national meet in Austin, Texas.

Sophomore Regina Mpigachai ended her season in the women’s 800 meters. She finished with a time of 2:09.87, roughly five seconds behind her personal best.
