Los Angeles police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 71-year-old woman dead in North Hollywood on Saturday night.

Officers said they were called to the intersection of Oxnard Street and Lankershim Boulevard at around 9:40 p.m. after learning of the crash. Upon arrival, they found the victim lying in the street.

The woman, identified on Monday by the LA County Medical Examiner as  Constance Gillard, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say that the vehicle involved in the incident, a dark red Ford SUV, was driving south on Lankershim when it hit Gillard as she crossed Oxnard.

"The hit-and-run driver negotiated a U-turn on Lankershim Boulevard and fled northbound without stopping," a news release shared by LAPD officers said on Sunday.

There was no information immediately available on a suspect.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered to anyone with information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the driver through the Los Angeles Administrative Code's Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund.

Video from the scene showed a large section of street that was blocked off as LAPD officers worked in the area. A white canopy covered the victim's body, which was still in the street.

Anyone who knows more was asked to contact Valley Traffic Division Detective Martinez at 818-644-8033.
