A father is dead and his 19-year-old daughter is in critical condition after a shooting in Baytown, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed with KPRC 2.
Deputies were called around 5:47 a.m. to the 5400 block of North Redell Road near Baytown. When they arrived, they found the father and daughter suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was flown by Life Flight to a hospital in critical condition and is in surgery.
Investigators said they’re interviewing a relative who was asleep in the house, but they do not believe he was involved in the shooting.
Gonzalez said the suspect is on the run. Authorities did not provide a description.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the area. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
