A Plymouth Township man has been arrested after, officials said, he injured a pair of police officers during an altercation that arose after he, allegedly, tried to take an officer’s firearm.

According to police, the incident followed report that officials received at about 4:54 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2026, when two officers from the Plymouth Township Police Department responded to a home along the 2000 block of Chemical Road on a report of a man — identified by police as Dallas Whitt Anderson-James — violating a protection from abuse order by repeatedly contacting a victim involved.

After this incident, police contacted Anderson-James to warn him of the violation, tell him an arrest warrant was pending and tell him to stay away from the Chemical Road property.

However, following that warning, at about 7:09 p.m. that same day, officers responded to that same block along Chemical Road after a victim told officer that Anderson-James was walking along the roadway.

Officers found Anderson-James shortly afterward, walking in the area of Cross Country Trail, near a Barnes and Noble store, according to police.

At that time, officials said Anderson-James refused orders to stop and remove his hand from his pocket before officers attempted to take him into custody on the arrest warrant for the protection from abuse violation.

Anderson-James resisted officers attempting to arrest him and, officials said, during a struggle, Anderson-James took a taser from an officer.

As a pair of officers fought with Anderson-James in an effort to regain custody of the taser, police claim Anderson-James continued to resist and grabbed the grip of a service firearm in the holster of one of the officers’ belts.

The officer involved was able to prevent Anderson-James from removing the firearm from the holster, however.

Anderson-James continued to struggle with officers until he was handcuffed, officials said.

Following this incident, both officers were hospitalized due injuries they received in the struggle.

One officer was treated, released and has since returned to work while, officials said, the second officer was released from the hospital but remains out of work as they recover from an arm injury.

Anderson-James has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, disarming a police officer, stalking, evading arrest and related offenses.

He is being held in police custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility as he awaits a preliminary hearing set for Nov. 10, 2026.
